These sketches are from this weeks Wednesday Session at The Post Port Office in Newport. We ran with two models and two longer poses, so one reclining nude after another…
This is fast becoming our favourite venue. The people who populate the Post Port Office are just so lovely :) But we do need more of you to come along to these life drawing opportunities as we are running them at a loss We need just a couple more people each week and we have enough money to cover the models fee, that's all we're after…
So, if you're near or in Newport or know of someone who is just a tad arty, do come or get them to come along.
After each life drawing session there is a free film screening. It's loosely tied into art, so past films have been Caravaggio, The Draughtsman's Contract, The Rebel…
And… I met at yesterdays Post Port Office session someone who worked on the animated Captain Scarlet series. Little screened, perhaps due to confusion as to the age group it best suited, I think it remains an honest update and truly remarkable demonstration of perfection in animation. You really ought to check it out if you get the chance (ask me and I might let you borrow my dvd)…
And finally, the models posed seperately and the female did not (as it so appears in the final sketch) have her hand inserted into the backside of the male :)

On Tuesday night Cardiff Life Model Collective ran one of our popular Graphic Novel Masterclass sessions. This was tutored by the amazing Dylan Teague and held at that oh so friendly bar 10 Feet Tall. I missed this but looking at the work sent in I should have cancelled all other appointments that day and made every effort to attend.
Unfortunately I was stuck on a late finishing Essential Food Hygiene course and then had to run someone home…
At least now I won't be poisoning myself and I will be encouraged to twist Dylan's arm and get another Graphic Novel Masterclass session booked in ASAP.

Images from Mondays charity evening at Cathays Community Centre. This was developed as a session for the male model to use as a fundraising tool, and didn't he do well… £350 for Velindre Hospital. He had the first hour and then one of Cardiff Life Model Collectives female models ran the second hour.
All of the money collected from participating artists was given to Velindre Hospital, the model group digging deep and funding the room hire and female model fee.

Tomorrow - Naked swim and sauna at Llantarnum Leisure Centre - we meet up once a month, the Cardiff World Naked Bike Riders and Charity Skinny Dip people - a join the naturist club that has been meeting there every Saturday for about thirty years now.
If you fancy joining us we meet in the pub beforehand and then go for the swim/sauna and then head back to the pub for a bit to eat before heading off, feeling all clean and healthy.

Becky tutored a session called 'Back to Basics of Lifedrawing', a session aimed at beginners but a good chance for a refresher for those more seasoned artists.
Some good work from the final pose I think.
Next week at 10 Feet Tall we are tasking the model to act out emotions…
